Shedding Motors When Possible
Waste water aeration
systems are often run continuously even though the dissolved oxygen content in the process liquor is higher than desired. This not only alters the biological reactions, but wastes energy as well. We have successfully added dissolved oxygen sensors and PLC based controls to maintain the dissolved oxygen
content within an operator adjustable range by selectively turning off aeration motors when the dissolved oxygen reading rise
too high; and automatically restarting the motors when the oxygen readings drop.

PLC's
Programmable Logic Controllers or PLC's have become one of the most common devices used
to control machines and processes throughout industrial facilities. PLC's allow precise control and production data analysis.
However, specialized training, equipment, and skills are required to troubleshoot, repair and modify
the control systems. For many organizations, retaining technicians, programmers, and engineers on-staff is not an economical
option, so necessary process modifications and improvements are postponed or performed in an undocumented manner.
Carlisle Consulting Group is pleased to provide emergency troubleshooting, modifications to existing
installations, and complete design, programming and startup of new control installations.

Time-of Day and Demand Reduction
In certain municipalities, the power utility will grant lower electricity pricing
if larger loads are operated during "Off Peak" hours. Further cost savings may be realized by taking steps to reduce
large surges in electrical (the "Demand Charge".
Taking advantage of these discounts involves a combination of Communications,
PLC's, and Variable Frequency AC motor drives (VFD's.) VFD's provide an intrinsic soft-start function that reduces the
traditional inrush current associated with electric motors. While the PLC's, SCADA, and Communications links allow the operator
to schedule motor/pump operations to balance customer demands with time-of day scheduling requirements.
